Beckman AU5821: Maximum Throughput for the Busiest Labs

The AU5821 pushes further, delivering up to 4,900 tests per hour with a single ISE flow cell configuration, the same 400-sample capacity as the AU5811, but with 108 onboard cooled reagent positions, nearly double the AU5811's reagent capacity. That combination is built for the largest commercial and hospital reference labs facing the heaviest daily chemistry backlogs, where minimizing manual reagent restocking during a run is as important as raw test speed.

Choosing Between the Two

Both systems share the AU5800 platform's core reliability, automation compatibility, and open-reagent flexibility. The decision comes down to actual daily volume: if your lab consistently runs near AU5811 capacity, the AU5821's larger reagent bay and near-double throughput ceiling gives you meaningful headroom for continued growth. If your volume is high but not at the extreme end of the spectrum, the AU5811 delivers the same platform reliability at a lower acquisition cost.
