5 Reasons High-Volume Labs Choose the Roche Cobas e801 for Immunoassay Testing

Roche Cobas e801 Immunology Analyzer

Immunoassay testing is where core-lab queues quietly build up. Thyroid, cardiac, tumor marker, and infectious disease panels all need longer incubation than routine chemistry, so an undersized immunoassay platform turns every morning rush into a turnaround time (TAT) problem.

Roche Diagnostics built the Roche Cobas e801 for exactly this pressure: a high-throughput immunochemistry module that uses ElectroChemiLuminescence (ECL) technology to run a broad range of heterogeneous immunoassays.

Here are 5 reasons high-volume laboratories choose the Roche Cobas e801.

1. Up to 300 Tests per Hour

Roche rates the cobas e 801 analytical unit at up to 300 immunochemistry tests per hour. That is well above the 170 tests per hour of the Cobas e601, which makes the e801 the natural step up for labs whose immunoassay queue has outgrown a mid-volume system.

2. Continuous Loading and Automated Consumable Handling

Diamond lists continuous sample loading, automatic loading and reloading, and automatic cassette management on the e801. On the consumables side, Roche's specifications show a magazine lifter that holds up to 15 magazines of assay cups and assay tips, with 105 of each per magazine, so technologists restock in bulk instead of topping up between runs.

3. 48 Onboard Reagent Positions

With 48 reagent positions and on-board refrigeration, the e801 keeps a wide immunoassay menu ready to run at all times. Reagent handling is automatic with level sensing, which keeps the analyzer working through a busy shift instead of waiting on manual reagent changes.

4. STAT Capability and Automated Sample Handling

Urgent samples should not wait behind a routine batch. The e801 supports direct STAT sample loading and automated sample handling from sample tubes, and it runs serum, plasma, urine, and CSF samples. Diamond's refurbished e801 carries a tested menu of 67 assays, and the analyzer needs as little as 19.4 μL of sample.

5. Part of the Roche cobas Platform

The e 801 is an analytical module of the cobas 8000 modular analyzer series and is also compatible with Roche's cobas pro integrated solutions. For laboratories already standardized on Roche, that means the same immunoassay technology across sites. Smaller labs that do not need this much capacity can look at the Cobas e411 instead, which we cover in our guide to disk vs. rack e411 systems.

Add High-Throughput Immunoassay Capacity to Your Lab

At Diamond Diagnostics, we help laboratories add serious immunoassay capacity without the cost of a new system.

Every Roche Cobas e801 we supply undergoes our complete Down-To-Frame® refurbishment protocol, including full disassembly, component-level restoration, and rigorous multi-level quality control validation, and every unit is eligible for field service coverage.
