Refurbished Beckman Coulter AU640 Chemistry Analyzer
A mid-volume Beckman AU analyzer with a 150-sample loader, rebuilt Down-To-Frame® to original specification and kept running by our own engineers. Finance it with $0 down.
The Beckman Coulter AU640 runs up to 800 photometric tests an hour, or 1,200 with its ISE module, and holds 150 samples in a continuous rack loader for long walk-away runs. It keeps 48 photometric tests on board at once, drawn from two refrigerated reagent compartments. Beckman no longer services the AU640, so we rebuild each one to the frame and support it with our own field engineers.
check_circleGet an AU640 stripped to the frame, rebuilt with new wear parts and validated on multi-level QC, instead of a used unit sold as-is straight from another lab.
check_circleRun up to 800 photometric tests an hour, or 1,200 on the AU640 with ISE.
check_circleLoad 150 samples at a time and keep feeding racks while it runs.
check_circleKeep 48 photometric tests on board, plus sodium, potassium and chloride on ISE units.
check_circleKeep your cost predictable and manageable with $0-down financing, and trade in your current analyzer.
check_circleRely on our engineers for installation, assay verification and ongoing service, since Beckman no longer services the AU640.
How the Beckman AU640 keeps a mid-volume lab moving
The AU640 is a floor-standing, random-access analyzer for routine and STAT chemistry, urine chemistry and homogeneous immunoassays such as specific proteins. It reads endpoint, kinetic and fixed-rate assays, and it was built to the same standard as the rest of the AU line, sharing reagents, consumables, parts and reference ranges with its siblings.
biotech
150-sample loading with refrigerated STAT positions
Load 150 samples in barcoded 10-position racks, and add racks during the run. It takes primary and secondary tubes from 11.5 to 16 mm wide and 55 to 102 mm tall, plus nested micro sample cups.
Assign any of 22 enclosed, refrigerated positions to STAT samples, QC material or calibrators.
Aspirate 2 to 50 µL of sample per test, with automatic reruns.
water_drop
96 refrigerated reagent positions
Keep 48 first-reagent and 48 second-reagent positions refrigerated at 4 to 12°C, in 15, 30 or 60 mL bottles.
Dispense 25 to 300µL of each reagent per test.
science

Buying a used AU640 from another lab? Read this first
The AU640 is two generations behind Beckman's current analyzers in this class, and Beckman no longer services it. When you buy a used one, everything that keeps it running after installation falls to you and whoever sold it, and many used AU640s sell as-is through a broker, who sends it directly to you from the previous lab, with no returns.
We strongly recommend investing in refurbished instead of used directly from a lab or a broker.
Where a used AU640 direct from another lab can let you down
buildWorn consumable parts. Probes, syringes, seals, pump tubing and the photometer lamp may be near the end of their life.
biotechCuvettes and optics. Scratched or clouded cuvettes and an aging lamp affect every absorbance reading.
thermostatReagent refrigeration. Compartments that drift above 12°C cut into onboard reagent stability.
boltThe ISE module. Electrodes and the reference valve wear with use and need checking on ISE units.
handymanService after the sale. With no manufacturer support, a breakdown means finding an engineer who knows the AU640 and has parts on hand.
Questions to ask a used AU640 seller
When was the analyzer built, and is it an AU640 or an AU640e?
Does it have the ISE module, and when were the electrodes and reference valve last replaced?
Can the seller document decontamination?
Which wear parts were replaced, and when?
Can you see current calibration and multi-level QC results?
Who will install it and program your assays?
Who will service it, and how quickly can they get parts?
Is there a warranty, and can you return it if it fails validation?
Every AU640 from Diamond Diagnostics is decontaminated, rebuilt with new wear parts, calibrated and validated with multi-level QC before it leaves our facility, then installed and verified in your lab by our engineers.
